Obviously, the best test for sound quality is to listen to headphones first-hand. With that said, these specs can help add some context to your search.
Impedance and Sensitivity:
Impedance and sensitivity can speak to the wattage needed to output certain volume levels. Low impedance and high sensitivity headphones require less power and are better suited for small output devices like smartphones or
MP3 players. The V-Moda XS is one such headphone with a slightly lower than average impedance. As such, to avoid damage we do not recommend using it with an amp.
A headphone’s frequency range represents the lowest and highest pitches that it can output.Considering that the human ear can only hear between 20 Hz – 20 kHz, the V-Moda XS range of 5 Hz – 30 kHz is a little excessive. The spectrum shows where certain frequencies are classified.
Diaphragm diameter, or driver diameter, is another variable that affects the bass or treble output of the headphones. The V-Moda XS diameter falls right around the average for on-ear headphones and may not be great at the extremely low or high end frequencies.
A headphone’s weight does not correlate to higher quality as some brands purposely add heavier parts. It’s only a matter of what feels better to the listener. With that in mind, know that the V-Moda XS is slightly heavier than the average on-ear headphone.
3.5mm is the most common input for headphones and is what you see connecting with MP3 players, smartphones, and laptops.
