The British-designed Sontronics STC-10 is an affordable yet pro-sounding pencil-style condenser mic, ideal for home set-ups and education but equally at home in professional recordings studios or in live sound applications. Designed using the same technology as Sontronics’ best-selling STC-1, the STC-10 has purposely been introduced to create an even more affordable option in the ever-growing Sontronics range. Small-diaphragm (or ‘pencil’) condenser microphones are ideal for spot-miking applications and the STC-10 is a winner when used for direct-miking solo drums, percussion, acoustic guitar and other acoustic instruments. The STC-10 also proves useful in film production work when used on a boom. When used in pairs, the Sontronics STC-10 gives fantastic overhead-miking results on drums, percussion and piano, and can also be used for acoustic guitar, harp and much more. Although the STC-10 has been designed with affordability in mind, it still features a built-in attenuation (pad) switch – 0dB or -10dB – and a low-cut filter (75Hz) to make it extremely flexible in all situations.
